The Dark Side of the Mynd

What an amazing turnout we had on Tuesday evening for The Dark Side of the Mynd fell race in memory of Adrian Donnelly. Through entries, donations and food & drink sales on the night we have raised over £3000 for Severn Hospice. There is still time to donate on our Just Giving page if you'd like https://www.justgiving.com/page/thedarksideofthemynd

Here are some of the things that were said before the race:

Adrian and Clare moved to Belmore Farm in 2018 and Adrian always hoped to organise a fell race from here one day.

The week before Adrian died, I was driving him back from the Stiperstones Inn after watching the time trial race last November. As we looked across from the Stiperstones, we talked about what a special place Belmore is and I’m sure you can all see why.

On that same drive, thankfully I remembered to ask him about the fell race he wanted to organise. He said he imagined it taking place on a midsummer evening just like this. The route he had in mind however was a bit longer than this, but who knows - perhaps we can do that one another time!

I think he would be chuffed to bits to see how many people have shown up here tonight.

The care and support provided by Severn Hospice during Adrian’s final week here at Belmore Farm was exceptional. That’s why we’re raising money for them today.

The route passes Adrian's grave in the top corner of the field. He's resting with one of the finest views in Shropshire. As you're out there this evening, take in the views, enjoy the route, and spare a thought for Adrian.

A huge thank you to all our marshals, timekeepers and volunteers. This event couldn't have happened without them.

Thanks everyone

The Donnelly family
