Kit Requirement: Waterproof top & bottoms, hat, gloves, rucksack or bumbag, race map, compass and whistle – must be carried at all times during the race. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If severe cold is anticipated, participants maybe required to carry an extra long-sleeved thermal top. Random kit checks may take place before and after the race.
Juniors born in 2006 or 2007 will be permitted to enter but must have the required kit. There is no separate junior race.

The route follows rocky and grassy tracks, has 4 major climbs, 2 steep grassy descents, 3 minor road crossings and 2 stream crossings. It is 7.8km long with 580mtrs of ascent. As short Shropshire races go, this one is HARD! NOT RECOMMENDED AS A FIRST RACE. In the event of anticipated extreme weather, the event may have to be cancelled/postponed at short notice, for the safety of participants and marshals.
The START (GR: SO 4450 9440) will be by the bridge below the NT Pavilion in Carding Mill Valley (CMV). The FINISH (SO 4408 9488) is at the Top Car Park in CMV. There will be check points (CP) at the following locations:

CP1 (SO 4352 9480): At the top of Cow Ridge.

CP2 (SO 4293 9423): The higher crossing of the Burway.

CP3 (SO 4487 9414): The lower crossing of the Burway.

CP4 (SO 4488 9426): By the NT entrance hut in CMV.

CP5 (SO 4377 9536): At the top of Haddon Hill.

CP6 (SO 4350 9527): On Motts Road.
The race route will be flagged throughout from the start of the climb up Cow Ridge to CP6 on Motts Road.
