Oli wins at Ras Moel Eilio

Oli Perratt (1st; 01:06:52) made sure that the title of Ras Moel Eilio winner stayed with Mercia by eventually finishing comfortably ahead of his rivals at yesterday's event. There were no team prizes but if there had been, Mercia men would have surely won that as well, as Bruce Fanshawe (6th; 01:11:12) and Joel Gomes (8th; 01:12:57) also had excellent runs, Joel finishing 1st MV40. Defending champion Jack Agnew (24th; 01:21:02) battled gamely to retain his title but succumbed to the debillitating effects of a respirastory infection. In all, 13 Mercians competed at the race, out of a total of 126 finishers. The event was expertly organised by the Tenovus Cancer charity and the weather was ideal for mountain running. Other Mercia results: Oli Cox (18th; 01:20:00), John Atyeo (20th; 01:20:41), Simon Adney (35th; 01:24:45), Tom Treasure (37th; 01:24:49), John Langton (44th; 01:26:13), Mark Agnew (55th; 01:30:30); Jules Toone (60th; 01:34:51), Sarah Cordingley (71st; 01:39:54), Rachel Bateman (99th; 01:57:48).
